About Our Program

Mother’s Day Out Preschool at Leander United Methodist Church is a place where children and families can learn and grow in a loving environment where God is at the center of everything we do. We pray together, grow together, and learn together.

We provide a great educational experience for preschool children and work to prepare them for Kindergarten with a play-based approach. We also provide support opportunities for the families we serve. We understand the important and difficult role you play at this stage in your child’s life and we work hard to provide you with the support you need to be the best parent possible for your child.

Brooke Hunger

Meet the Director

Brooke Hunger

My journey began at Mt. Wesley in the early 2000s, at a summer camp for youth. During a particularly powerful message about service and ministry, I felt the divine calling into children’s ministry.

Over the last 15 or so years, this calling has taken many forms in my life, the most fulfilling being The Nest Preschool. It was building this business that led me to discover my passion for early childhood education administration. I fell in love with business management, hiring teachers, recruiting new students, aligning schedules, and general recordkeeping. Those years taught me that there is more to a calling in children’s ministry than teaching. I learned that I could minister to families and teachers through one job. What a joy!

My family and I live in Liberty Hill, we are members of ACTS Church Leander, and we love to go off-roading and camping together. My husband Josh and I have three children Joel (6), Liliana (4), and Kaetlyn (2). Joel is in first grade. Lili and Kaet are both students at MDO!

what we incorporate into our program:

Mothers Day Out Leander Read

Songs, Stories & Movement

Twice a week we have music, movement and story time. We sing songs together, dance, move along with songs, listen to and act out stories. Not only do we have lots of fun, but we further enhance our monthly focus and develop our literacy skills!

Mothers Day Out Leander Sign Language

Sign Language

Each Tuesday we practice sign language through stories and songs.

Mothers Day Out Leander Chapel

Chapel Time

On Thursday mornings we head over to the Sanctuary for chapel time where we sing songs about Jesus and hear exciting Bible stories. Pastor Jon’s stories are very engaging and often include fun props and special music which children of all ages find especially delightful.

Mothers Day Out Leander Art

Arts & Crafts

We incorporate fine motor skills into a daily craft project or other learning opportunity that relates to the theme of the month. Our projects may be gifts, mementos, or crafts to help supplement our learning experiences.

Mothers Day Out Leander Play

Outdoor Play

We provide opportunities for gross motor play daily. Weather permitting, we play outside, but also have opportunities for gross motor play indoors if we are unable to play outside.
