Are you ready to be an Acolyte?
Do you even know what one is?
We haven’t had acolytes since before Covid, so many of you may never have seen acolytes in action. Acolytes assist with worship by lighting the candles, ringing the bell, and helping with the offering.
We are ready to bring acolytes back to both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services. We will be holding an acolyte training session on Sunday September 14, 2025 at 9:45 (during the Sunday School hour) for all children in 1st grade and up. It will be in the Sanctuary. So rather than dropping your child off in the education wing, bring your child to the Sanctuary.
Since most of our children have never seen acolytes, we are training during the Sunday School hour so that each child can experience what acolytes do. Each child will have a chance to actually light the candles, hold the offering plates, and ring the bell. Children can decide at the end if they want to sign up to be an acolyte. We will ask each child and a parent to sign a covenant agreement. The commitment would be for one Sunday per month at whichever service your family attends.
Parents are welcome to observe the entire session but are requested to step back in at 10:30 for some parent instructions. Your child does not have to decide on that day either.
We are looking forward to having children serve again during worship services in the important way.
