So glad you're here

We are a community of disciples on mission.

In celebration of our 160th anniversary, we asked some members of our congregation about their thoughts on Leander UMC’s past, present, and future. Check out the video!

Sunday, December 12

8:30 & 11:00 am

The LUMC choir will be presenting “Wonders of Christmas”, a cantata by various composers on Sunday, December 12 during the 8:30 and 11:00 am services.

Due to copyright restrictions on the music for the Cantata, we will not be live-streaming our services to Facebook this Sunday.

We invite you to come join us in-person and welcome in the Christmas season with the choir. From the miracle of prophecy to the miracle of the Savior’s birth, this Cantata blends familiar carols with original compositions in rich harmonies and blend to create a celebration that is moving, fun and inspirational.

Blue Christmas Service

Tuesday, December 14

6:30 pM

We recognize that the holidays are sometimes “blue” or filled with difficult feelings around painful life events such as the death of a loved one. The Blue Christmas service is full of hope and healing.

During the service, we ask the Lord for healing blessings and offer up to Him all that is now lost. It is a time of individual and congregational prayer, a lighting of candles, quiet Christmas music, and comforting scripture readings.

This service is open to anyone in the community who is grieving a loss of any kind.

We won’t be selling pumpkins this year, but we will have a small pumpkin patch display set up for visitors to come and enjoy, play a little, and take some pretty fall pictures! We have activity books for children. Come back the week of Halloween and pick up a Boo Bag filled with treats for children (while supplies last).

Outdoor Worship Service

November 15, 2020

10:00 am

(The service will also be live-streamed on Facebook)

We won’t have an 11:00 am service on October 25th.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair, wear a mask, and print the worship outline (link below). Holy Communion will be served and distributed to those sitting in the church-yard and parking lot. There will be no Sunday school, no nursery, and no playground access. A Children’s Time will be offered, but will have special instructions for observing distance.

Children will have the option to attend an outdoor, socially-distanced Sunday school class during the service.

If you plan on sitting in the courtyard, please park in the parking lot or school parking lot (rather than in front of the church or on the street). Those needing to sit in their vehicles and listen from there may park in front of the church on West Drive.

We are sponsoring 4 families through Hope Alliance for Christmas this year. Hope Alliance provides assistance to victims of domestic violence.

If you would like to participate by donating gifts, there are 2 ways to sign up:

1. Pull an ornament from the Angel Tree by the Sanctuary.
2. Sign up to purchase an item from our list online using the link below.

Gifts should be brought to the church no later than December 13. When you are ready to bring your gift, make sure you have the tag attached or a note indicating what you signed up for. You do not need to wrap the gift. You can drop off your gift in one of the following ways:

1. Drop off your item by the Angel Tree on Sundays.
2. Drop of your item at the church office on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
3. Contact the church office to make other arrangements ([email protected]).

If you didn’t pre-register for a supply pack, you can still participate by improvising on some of the materials by using whatever you have on hand.

FALLSermon Series

“No Fair!”
In the trials of one family, we find hope for our own.

Summer is a time for family reunions. For some of us, family reunions are fun and fulfilling. For others of us, they are uncomfortable or even painful. We all have some dysfunction in our families. We all have stories that we’d rather not tell. In the stories of Genesis, we discover God’s chosen family – those first generations of Israel – had struggles, secrets, sibling rivalries, and even threats of murder. As we explore these rich and ancient stories, we see how God works through and in spite of family dysfunction to bring about God’s purposes for the world, and we find hope for God’s presence and movement in our own families.

Ash Wednesday 2

Ash Wednesday Worship Service

Wednesday, February 26

12:00 & 7:00 PM

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lent, a forty day period of repentance and reflection. Ashes are placed in the shape of a cross on the forehead as a sign of mourning and repentance. The act echoes the ancient tradition of throwing ashes over one’s head to signify repentance before God. Join us for one of two services at 12:00 & 7:00 pm on February 26 in the Sanctuary.
