sunday school

10:15 am

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate in Sunday school at 9:45 am in room 8.

We are currently using the curriculum, “Celebrate Wonder” which seeks to celebrate spirituality through wonder. Children are naturally spiritual beings and everyday theologians. We want children to recognize and name this spirituality found within themselves and the world around them. Spiritual practices are incorporated through play, discovery, biblical exploration, faith conversation and relationship. Children will come to know and use spiritual practices as a way to deepen their faith and grow in their spiritual identity as children of God. These spiritual practices then become building blocks for holy moments, both at church and all week long.

We have a Wonder Table and Wonder Box each week to help us explore the story and ask questions. Additional activity suggestions are sent home to allow children to continue to wonder through the week about the story and how God is moving in our world.

Kindergarten through 5th grade

Our Sunday school classes are currently using three different curriculums to meet the needs of our children. Our Pre-K is using a program called “Frolic”. The lessons in these units deal with themes like making friends, sharing and asking for help. Our K-2 kids are using Bible stories, videos and games to learn about the life of Jesus; how he loves us, and forgives us of our sins. “Dig-In” is the program they are using.

Our older elementary children are involved in a program called “Buzz”. They use both the old and new testaments to explore God’s commandments, and they learn about people who experience God’s grace.

children's church

During the 11:00 worship service, children ages 3 (potty-trained) through 2nd grade have the option of staying in worship or attending Children’s Church. Children who wish to attend Children’s Church will leave the sanctuary immediately following children’s time.  We have activity bags at each entrance to the sanctuary to occupy those who choose to stay in worship.

BLAST!

kids play and praise our god!

BLAST! is open to children ages 3 (potty-trained) through 5th grade. There is no cost to participate. We meet from 9 to 11 am on the second Saturday of each month (except in June, July, and August) to do crafts, sing songs, play games, and hear stories all designed to help children learn about our Savior and loving those around us.

parent's night out

Parent’s Night Out is offered on the 3rd Friday of most months (except June, July, August and December) from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Parent’s Night Out is open to children ages 2 to 10. The cost is $10 per child for the night. We play games, sing songs, eat snacks, do a craft, then settle down for a movie. Children arriving before 6:30 pm are encouraged to bring their dinner and eat together. Pajamas and socks are encouraged, but not required. Bring a blanket, pillow and mat or something to lay on during movie time.

Reservations are required. To RSVP, please contact the church office.

safety policy

We value the safety of our children and youth and take seriously our responsibility to lead them well. We follow the safety policy and procedure guidelines as set by the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. All volunteers must pass a thorough background check by an outside agency and complete a safety training and certification course. You can learn more about our policy and guidelines HERE.

pick up policy

Parents of children in 5th grade or younger must pick up their children from their Sunday school classroom or from Children’s Church. Children will not be allowed to leave on their own or with siblings who try to pick them up. If you need to make alternative arrangements for picking up your child, please speak with your child’s Sunday school teacher.

children's choir

Children ages 3 (potty-trained) and up are invited to participate in the children’s choir lead by Cade Baccus. Practices take place on Sundays 12:00 – 12:15 pm in the upper room.  The children’s choir periodically performs at our 11:00 am worship service. Children’s choir takes a break for the summer (June through August).
