Hi friends,

Summer is here, and I’m excited about what lies ahead for us at Leander UMC!
Summer brings travel, different routines, family time, and opportunities to rest and recharge. I hope you find moments this season for joy, connection, and renewal. Even as schedules shift, ministry here continues, and I’m grateful for the many ways this church keeps showing up for one another and for our community.

One of the things I’m excited about this summer is our worship series beginning May 31: Back to Bible School.
Together, we’ll revisit stories many of us first encountered as children: Creation, Noah and the Flood, Jonah, David and Goliath, Daniel in the Lion’s Den, Zacchaeus, Walking on Water, and more. But rather than staying at the surface, we’ll ask deeper questions, wrestle with complexity, and discover new meaning in stories that still shape faith and life today.
Some of these stories we may know well. Some we may think we know well. My hope is that together we’ll uncover wisdom, challenge, grace, and wonder that we may have missed before.

I’m also looking forward to our Summer Book Club in July as we read Calling on Fire. More details and gathering times are still coming, but plan to join us for conversation, learning, and connection over lunch on a weekday. Whether you’ve been part of our book discussions or this would be your first one, I hope you’ll consider joining us.

And I’m especially grateful for the work underway through our Making Meaning Together initiative as we continue to find ways to more fully integrate children into worship and the life of our congregation. Children are not simply the future of the church – they are the church now. Watching us grow together in this work has been and will continue to be a gift.

One practical note: if summer travel takes you away for a few Sundays, thank you for remembering that the ministry of this church continues throughout the season. Worship continues. Formation continues. Care continues. Mission continues. Your generosity helps make that possible.

If online or recurring giving would be helpful during travel season, you can find that information here:

Thank you for the many ways you make this church what it is – through your presence, your prayers, your gifts, your service, and your care for one another.
I’m grateful to be on this journey with you.

Shalom,
Pastor Ryan
